Profitability ratios 盈利率指標(biāo)

Gross margin, net margin and operating margin

Gross margin = Gross profit/Sales × 100%

Net margin = Net profit/Sales × 100%

Operating margin = PBIT/Sales × 100%

Profitability ratios can be KPIs for certain businesses.

If the gross margin is high but net margin/operating margin is weak, this might imply that expenses are out of control or misallocation of certain costs.
